To set up a subnet, figure how many address you want. It needs to be a multiple of 2. Let's say you want something with 16 addresses. Then the first address of one of the subnets would be 192.168.1.17. It would go up to 192.168.1.30. 192.168.1.16 is the subnet address and the 192.168.1.31 is the broadcast address. The netmask would be 255.255.255.240.
